Well, we didn’t see any bald eagles as we left the Sassafras River—but we sure did see crab pots. They are smaller and don’t usually have sticks or flags like lobster pots, making them really hard to see until you are very close. Check out https://www.fisheriessupply.com/fishing-gear/crabbing-supplies to see how the system works.
The Bay Bridge, on the other hand, was definitely not hard to see! However, it wasn’t until we got closer that I realized it is actually 2 bridges, one built in 1952 and the parallel span built in 1973. They are an engineering feat to behold, especially when they tower 350+’ above you (and reminded me of my brother’s Erector set back in the early ’60s!).
We arrived in Annapolis about 2 p.m. and were met by our daughter. You know life has come full circle when you bring your dirty laundry to your child’s home to wash! We’ll be here in DC for a few weeks enjoying time with our children and grandchildren. I’ll start the blog up again when we return to the sailing life after Columbus Day.
Enjoy being with them!
